About The Position

The Equipment Specialist Electrician at Martin Lake Plant is responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining various types of plant electrical, electronic, and electromechanical equipment. This includes motors, alternators, breakers, generators, burner management systems, battery systems, communication devices, valve actuators, and other related equipment. The role requires initiative and a strong understanding of electrical systems.

Requirements

  • High School education or GED equivalent.
  • Satisfactory completion of all requirements for Electrician, A4 as listed in the STAR Progression Guide section of the Skills, Training, Advancement, Review (STAR) Program for Fossil Generation West/Central.
  • Minimum of three years experience working as an Electrician in a related industry.
  • Must successfully complete/pass POSS/MASS aptitude test.
  • 48 months experience in electrical maintenance (Power Plant experience preferred).
  • Possess a working knowledge of mathematics and physics.
  • Basic computer skills needed to perform job functions.
  • Ability to use all hand tools and other various tools.
  • Ability to climb ladders, lift and carry heavy loads.
  • Ability to work in areas involving heights, enclosed spaces, and near or above water.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

  • Understand basic AC/DC Circuit Theory, Digital and Analog Circuit Theory, Power Plant Cycle Theory, and Mechanics.
  • Inspect, test, repair, and install plant electrical equipment such as leads, buses, breakers, batteries, motors, generators, lighting, and more.
  • Build cable and raceway systems and install conduit.
  • Pull and route control and power cables through raceways, cable trays, and conduits.
  • Terminate cables and check for continuity and accuracy.
  • Conduct low, medium, and high voltage switching, clearing, and grounding activities for all plant auxiliary equipment.
  • Locate, analyze, and correct malfunctions of electrical and electronic equipment.
  • Perform switchboard work such as wiring new electrical and electronic devices.
  • Assist in keeping records on electrical and electronic equipment, including inspections and overhaul reports.
  • Comply with safety and environmental regulations established by regulatory agencies and company policy.
