About The Position

The Equipment Service Technician I at STERIS is a remote-based, customer-facing role primarily focused on troubleshooting and repairing medical equipment used in surgical procedures. This position requires mechanical aptitude and the ability to work independently while also collaborating with a team. The technician will manage service calls, perform maintenance, and provide installation support for complex mechanical and electronic units, ensuring customer satisfaction and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED with 4+ years of work experience, including 2 years in a mechanical/technical role.
  • Associates degree or related certifications in a technical/mechanical area may be considered towards experience requirement.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet background and physical assessment requirements for vendor credentialing.
  • Customer and team engagement experience.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Windows/email, navigation, mobile app, and data input into multi-systems).
  • Ability to meet flexible schedules with potential overnights and early/late hours.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in HVAC repair, mechanics, maintenance, refrigeration, boilers, chillers, equipment repair, diesel and automotive repair, aviation repair, plumbing, or electrical work.

Responsibilities

  • Perform fundamental troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of STERIS and competitor equipment, systems, and components.
  • Manage time effectively by prioritizing customer and business needs and schedules autonomously.
  • Complete PM performance, service calls, warranty calls, equipment installations, and field upgrade programs.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to escalate issues and utilize advanced technology platforms for compliance and documentation.
  • Provide customers with information, pricing, and repair options.
  • Build relationships with sales to enhance customer experience and identify revenue opportunities.
  • Support various locations within the assigned territory based on service agreements and customer needs.
