About The Position

Under general supervision, the Equipment Operator maintains and cuts grass on tees, fairways, roughs, greens and fringes. Operates equipment such as walking/riding greens, tee, fairway, rough mowers, bunker rakes, utility cars, rollers, blowers, tractors, and a variety of powered and non-powered hand tools. The purpose of the position is to keep the fairways and greens of the golf course in optimal condition. Supervision This position has no supervisory responsibility. Duties and Responsibilities including Physical Requirements The duties and responsibilities listed below are essential to the employee’s position. Not all Equipment Operators are trained or required to complete every item; however, are expected to be able perform the majority of items. Some responsibilities are seasonal in nature. Requirements

  • High School Degree/GED preferred.
  • Prefer some experience in a golf course maintenance, landscaping, or related field.
  • Ability to operate golf course and landscape equipment properly and safely.
  • Extensive knowledge of the repair and maintenance of golf course equipment.
  • Extensive knowledge of the tools, supplies, materials needed for the repair and maintenance of golf course equipment.
  • Knowledge of welding equipment and the safe operation of the equipment as it pertains the golf course maintenance.
  • Ability to recognize, communicate and/or resolve maintenance and/or repair challenges.
  • Knowledge of golf course maintenance techniques and methods.
  • Ability to identify plant species common to the southwest region.
  • Knowledge of fertilizers and pesticides, and their application techniques and purpose.
  • Ability to work alone with limited supervision, follow instructions and be detail oriented.
  • Self-starter and eager to learn.
  • Must be dependable and reliable.
  • Ability to use employee self-service on company’s human resources/payroll database.
  • Valid State Driver’s License
  • Ability to work schedule required to fulfill duties of position.
  • At times, an individual must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to handle and prioritize multiple, competing tasks and demands and to seek supervisory assistance as appropriate.
  • Must seek approval from supervisor before incurring overtime
  • Schedule flexibility which may include weekends and holidays.
