The machine operator is responsible to the Production Supervisor for the operation of his/her machine and the supervising of all employees assigned to his/her machine, in accordance with company safety and work rules, and the direction of the Production Supervisor. RELATIONSHIPS Maintain close relationships with Operator/Production Supervisor with free exchange of information to facilitate and expedite orders. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Supervise activities of all personnel and the operation of the machine assigned to him/her. Maintain quality requirements in accordance with customer and company standards and safety procedures. Must have specific job knowledge of the machine which he/she is responsible: Machine capabilities and limitations Maximize utilization of equipment by operating a machinery at available capacity and speed Set-up procedures Set-up rails, print and die cut sections accurately in accordance with proper set-up techniques. Ensure all bolts for cutting dies are in place and tightly secured Quality adjustments Monitor box quality, including, but not limited to, loose liner, warp, correct size, and print. Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to: Production Data, Machine Operational Status, Safety Data, and Quality Data. Machine maintenance and housekeeping Inspect all dies before and after run to ensure that any necessary repairs are made before next run. Check anilox rolls for damage Turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs. Be proactive in maintenance equipment. Must be thoroughly familiar with quality operations and standards such as: Printing: Coverage, registration, crush, sharpness, viscosity, Ph Die Cutting: Cut to print register elimination of score cracking, cutting and stripping Square folding, automatic bottoms, gap control Dimensions, score quality Assures that the operation of his/her machine is carried out in the most efficient manner with consistent quality requirements and production schedules. Train and assist helpers, feeders and stackers on their job duties. Assures care in the use and housekeeping of machine assigned to him/her. Cross train on other machines. Adhere to production schedule. Make recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality and service goals. Reports any unusual scheduling issues to Supervisor. Inspect production continually to guarantee quality standards and implement necessary corrective action as required. Sign-off on all set-ups before Production Supervisor is called to sign off on set-up. Required that operator pull samples during run for quality inspection samples to be placed in last unit or production run. Instructs safety practices and rules on his/her machine. Responsible for housekeeping in his/her area and machine at acceptable levels. Other duties as assigned. The final base pay offered to the successful candidate will be determined by factors such as work location, job-related skills, qualifications, experience, responsibilities, and relevant education and training.
