Join us and be a part of a team that puts people first! We are seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to join our Dallas team. In this role, you will operate a variety of heavy machinery to safely and efficiently load, unload, sort, and transport scrap metal materials within our yard. This position plays a key role in maintaining a safe, productive, and organized work environment. Equipment may include forklifts, front-end loaders, material handlers, and excavators.
Requirements
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to safety and detail
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently
- Ability to read, write, and follow instructions
- Comfortable climbing in and around heavy equipment for inspection and operation
- Strong time management and task prioritization skills
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience operating material handlers and/or excavators is a plus
- Previous heavy equipment or yard experience preferred but not required
Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and company safety standards
- Load, unload, move, and sort various grades of scrap metal
- Perform daily equipment inspections and routine maintenance (fueling, lubricating, cleaning)
- Complete daily inspection reports and notify maintenance of any equipment issues
- Assist with traffic flow to ensure materials are unloaded in the correct locations
- Report load inspections and contaminants to the Load Inspector and Scale Operator
- Complete required paperwork accurately and on time
- Maintain equipment and job site cleanliness, including power washing as needed
- Meet productivity and production goals
- Follow all safety rules and regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned
