About The Position

We're seeking skilled individuals to join our team for the winter and spring seasons. If you have a background in farming, landscaping, or operating heavy machinery, this is a great opportunity to put your experience to work. The right candidate will have a proven ability to troubleshoot basic mechanical issues, perform maintenance in the field, and keep equipment operational in challenging conditions. Additionally, the ideal candidate will be results-oriented, capable of meeting daily acreage goals, and possess strong communication skills to coordinate with team leads. Working outdoors in remote locations, such as in the Antelope Island area. Additionally, winter weather conditions are a key part of this role. As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you'll play a critical role in managing invasive vegetation using specialized machinery. Here's what the job entails: Operate a Marsh Master Tractor Machine (similar to a skid steer) to trample and mow Phragmites, an invasive reed grass, restoring the natural landscape. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the equipment is safe, operational, and ready for the job. Perform basic field maintenance on machinery to minimize and prevent downtime and keep operations running smoothly. Work toward specific acreage requirements during each shift, ensuring timelines and daily production goals are being met. Work outdoors in winter conditions, completing tasks independently after receiving training. Follow simple instructions and use GPS tools to map and manage treatment areas. Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections after each trip, ensuring equipment reliability. Report to your team lead. This position will start on 02/09/2026 (estimated) for training, and the season will last until 05/01/2026 (estimated). Candidates who have performed well may be given the option to continue working in different environmental departments.

Requirements

  • Minimum age of 21 years old
  • Must have a clean driving record
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED
  • 5 to 10 years of previous experience in heavy equipment operation.
  • Mechanical proficiencies in heavy equipment maintenance.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license (CDL-A is a plus).
  • Must be comfortable working in winter conditions.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Strong Communication skills.
  • Ability to handle physical workload.
