About The Position

PRICE ELECTRIC is looking for an Equipment Operator – Utility to support horizontal directional drilling operations by preparing job sites, operating and locating drilling equipment, and maintaining safe, organized, and efficient work practices. We are looking for a skilled, team-focused equipment operator for consistent, highly organized work in Central/Eastern Iowa.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience as a HDD Locator and/or Drill Operator preferred.
  • Experience operating mini excavators/backhoes, skid loaders, trenchers, small power equipment, etc.
  • Valid Class A CDL
  • If an otherwise qualified candidate with a valid Driver License agrees to obtain a Class A CDL within the introductory period, the company may assist with CDL training and testing costs
  • Operate and maintain HDD machines and associated equipment
  • Proficiency in identifying and excavating around marked underground utilities safely and efficiently
  • Ability to understand and participate in all phases of underground fiber/power cable work scopes
  • Commitment to following and embodying all safety policies and procedures
  • Be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Maintain safe driving habits and clean driving record
  • The individual must have the ability to regularly lift 50+ lbs, stand, walk, climb, squat, kneel, sit, use feet and hands for grasping, pushing and pulling.

Responsibilities

  • Understanding plans, specs and expectations and using informational apps for each project or jobsite
  • Planning accurate, well organized setup including assessing bore rig setup, down-hold tooling and fluid mixing
  • Proficiently locating a driller using locating equipment (i.e. DCI)
  • Proficiently drilling with HDD equipment (i.e. Vermeer, Ditch Witch)
  • Operating and maintaining various equipment and tooling
  • Securing equipment for travel and if appropriately licensed, pulling equipment to/from job sites
  • Adhering to the Company’s Safety Program and Policies including job hazard analysis and PPE utilization
  • Setting up and maintaining traffic control
  • Communicating effectively with the team and leaders (i.e. clear plans, logs, etc.)
  • Keeping job site, trucks, and equipment clean and organized
  • Completing installations of all sizes and types with high quality and production standards
  • Attend work regularly and reliably
