About The Position

About Us Thomann Asphalt is a family-owned full-service asphalt paving company. Thomann’s extensive experience has kept us in business for over 100 years. The Company’s primary focus is on commercial and industrial paving and site work projects in both the private and public sectors. We specialize in parking lot maintenance, including paving, patching, seal coating, crack sealing, drain work, and site work, which includes a full complement of grading, excavating, and utility installation services. Essential Functions Understand and execute paving and concrete procedures while following instructions to meet with specifications of the project. Safe equipment operation used to assist in preparing and finishing job sites Concrete finishing which includes setting forms, tearing out and grading Finish surfaces by smoothing and tamping asphalt material to the proper grad and thickness Job site preparation which includes general labor work, the understanding of grades, efficient time management, and the prevention of possible hazards Supervisory Responsibility This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment This job operates primarily in an outdoor work environment, in all weather conditions. Physical Demands The employee is frequently required to stand and occasionally climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must be able to push, pull, move and lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to climb and descend a flight of stairs as needed. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday. Extended hours, nights and weekend work may be necessary based on business needs. While in season, the typical work week is approximately 50-60 hours. Travel This position may require occasional travel and out-of-town work. Requirements

  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to work well with others, take direction and adapt to changes
  • Solid problem-solving skills with the ability to effectively handle multiple tasks at one time
  • Self-motivated, safety-minded, dependable and detail-oriented
  • Capable of withstanding rigorous activity for extended periods of time
  • Adherence to the attendance policy
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5 years minimum experience, preferred
  • CDL - Required; Class A is preferred
  • Previous grading and machine operating experience, specifically a skid-steer

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with fine grading and concrete work is preferred.
  • OSHA 10-hour certification is preferred but not required
