About The Position

The Equipment Operator, Senior/Refuse drives trucks and operates light equipment used for Refuse Control. This position involves performing manual labor in the completion of various County tasks, with work being monitored by a crew foreman during and after completion.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED supplemented by one (1) year of experience operating and driving equipment in support of maintenance projects.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.
• May be required to possess and maintain a valid Georgia Commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsement(s) depending on type of equipment/vehicle operated.

Responsibilities

• Operates small or light equipment such as hand and power tools to cut trees and brush.
• Drives flat-bed truck in collecting debris.
• Cuts and mows grass; picks up litter and debris from streets and right of ways; and picks up and bags leaves.
• Relocates County office furniture.
• Delivers supplies for various departments; delivers mail to departments.
• Supervises inmates as assigned.
• Performs preventive maintenance and minor repairs on tools, equipment, and vehicles.
• Performs other related duties as required.
