About The Position

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years full-time equivalent experience operating and maintaining heavy construction equipment weighing over five tons.
• A Class A commercial driver's license (CDL) with air brake and tanker endorsements required within 90 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Five years progressive experience in the highway construction field operating heavy equipment.
• Three years full-time experience constructing and repairing bituminous or concrete pavement.

Responsibilities

• Reconstruct and maintain City streets, bridges, alleys, and paths including bituminous and concrete work.
• Maintain sanitary sewers and storm sewers and flood control structures.
• Perform snow and ice control during winter months, including call-in availability during off hours.
• Operate various types of equipment such as snow plow trucks, street sweepers, and skid loaders.
• Repair and maintain bituminous and concrete streets, curbs, and sidewalks.
• Clean and repair sanitary and storm infrastructure, including reconstructing pipes and cleaning manholes.
• Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on City equipment.
• Construct and maintain flood and storm drainage facilities.
• Set up and remove temporary traffic control according to regulatory standards.
• Log and report unsafe conditions and maintenance needs to the supervisor.
