About The Position

The Equipment Operator position at TxDOT's Amarillo District involves performing complex transportation maintenance work using heavy equipment. Requirements

• 1 year experience in maintenance and/or construction equipment operation.
• Valid driver's license and a Class A Texas Commercial Driver's License for equipment operation.

• Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment such as tractor-trailer haul trucks, motor graders, large excavators, and bulldozers.
• Assist with traffic control by placing and gathering cones, warning signs, and barricades.
• Monitor and fill out various required reports including timekeeping and equipment forms.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and minor repairs on equipment.
• Train other employees on equipment operation and safety procedures.
• Coordinate equipment operations for daily work assignments.
• Assist stranded motorists and provide support to local law enforcement at accident sites.
