About The Position

Performs semi-skilled work in the operation of moderately complex construction/maintenance equipment. An employee in this class is responsible for performing tasks of average difficulty involving the safe operation and routine maintenance of assigned equipment. Tasks, at times, are performed under hazardous conditions and employees are expected to be particularly alert and careful. Under general supervision, employees are required to exercise some initiative and independent judgment in completing assigned tasks. Work is reviewed while in progress and upon completion by observation and through results obtained. Definition: Moderately complex equipment, normally over 26,000 GVW, can be operated after an informal training session of two to four weeks. The equipment is normally operated by one (1) employee on public roadways. The consequence of errors can be significant in terms of cost of repairs and damage to other private vehicles and there is a chance of injury to other employees and citizens.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED; one (1) year of experience in the operation of assigned equipment; or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
  • Must be able to read, write, and follow instructions.
  • Florida Commercial Driver's License Class B or higher required.
