About The Position

Skyway Concession Company is growing and is looking for qualified Equipment Operators. This is a union position with great pay and paid time off. The role involves performing a variety of highway maintenance duties while adhering to safety guidelines. The incumbent may work in inclement weather and will be exposed to fumes, exhaust, noise, vibrations, dust, dirt, and fast-moving traffic. The position requires the ability to stand, bend, and operate highway maintenance equipment for long periods, with moderate manual dexterity and strong grip strength necessary for equipment operation. Heavy lifting, shoveling, and material transfer are routine, with the ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs and occasionally up to 100lbs required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (at least Class B) with air-brake endorsement
  • Ability to lift at least 50lbs
  • Strong grip strength to operate equipment
  • Ability to follow instructions and work both individually and as part of a team

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of highway maintenance practices preferred
  • 1-2 years experience with common equipment used in highway operations preferred
  • Past snow plowing experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Patches, chips, seals and blacktop roads
  • Trims around hedges and signs and cuts down and removes dead trees
  • Mows grass along road shoulder and right of way
  • Loads and dumps crushed stone, sand, and salt from trucks
  • Operates various types of equipment requiring moderate training including trucks with abrasive spreaders, oil distributors, tractors with mowers, scrapers, spreaders, sweepers, loaders, bush hogs, trenchers, post drivers, jack hammers, portable pavement marking machines, tar kettles, street sweepers, and front-end loaders
  • Cleans storm drains, sewers, bridge decks, piers, and culverts
  • Aids in cleaning highway after accidents and removes trash from roadside
  • Assists in performing various winter maintenance activities, such as operating and maintaining snow and ice removal equipment, sign, guardrail, and fence repair
  • Ensures proper care and cleaning of equipment as instructed by supervisor
  • Works in accordance with all safety policies and procedure guidelines
  • Performs patrolling duties as assigned
  • Subject to twenty-four-(24) hour call
  • Performs other duties as assigned
