About The Position
The City of Greeley is seeking an Equipment Operator II to join the Wastewater Collections division within the Water & Sewer Department. This position plays a crucial role in executing maintenance and construction projects related to wastewater management. The Equipment Operator II will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, pipe rehabilitation, and manhole construction, as well as responding to emergencies and customer complaints. This role requires a strong commitment to safety and efficiency, as the operator will frequently work in outdoor environments and around heavy machinery. The Equipment Operator II will report directly to the Wastewater Collection Crew Supervisor and will serve as a team leader in various situations, ensuring that projects are completed effectively and in compliance with city standards. The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or equivalent, along with a valid Colorado driving license and a Class A CDL (or the ability to obtain one within six months). Candidates should have at least three to five years of on-the-job experience in the construction of water and sewer lines, as well as three years of experience operating heavy equipment such as backhoes, cranes, and dump trucks. The Equipment Operator II must be available for on-call duties as part of a rotational schedule and be willing to respond to after-hour emergencies within 45 minutes. In addition to the required qualifications, preferred candidates may have specialized training beyond high school, experience in trades such as concrete and carpentry, and certifications related to wastewater collection. The Equipment Operator II will also be expected to demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills, leadership abilities, and a commitment to teamwork and problem-solving in variable situations. This position is essential for maintaining the city's wastewater infrastructure and ensuring the safety and satisfaction of the community.
