About The Position
The selected candidates will be eligible for a $3,000 signing bonus and a $4,000 annual CDL stipend (if applicable). This position is approved for a Voluntary Career Progression program that allows employees to be advanced to the appropriate next level position within their current division. The Water Distribution Section has an immediate opening, ideal for those looking to learn a trade. The role involves performing difficult unskilled and semi-skilled work in the maintenance, repair, installation, and operation of a municipal water distribution system. Responsibilities include routine water valve and fire hydrant maintenance, repair or replacement of water mains and valves from 2" to 36" in size, fire hydrants, large meters, large vaults, asphalt and concrete work, system tests, flushing programs, and operation and maintenance of light to medium duty equipment. Employees must be prepared to work in emergency situations due to weather or operational issues, including mandatory standby duty and overtime as needed.
