Equipment Operator - Heavy (Street Sweeping Division)
About The Position
Performs skilled work in the operation of complex construction/maintenance equipment. An employee in this class is responsible for performing tasks of more than average difficulty involving the safe operation and routine maintenance of assigned equipment. Tasks, at times, are performed under hazardous conditions and employees are expected to be particularly alert and careful. Under general supervision, employees are required to exercise initiative and independent judgment in completing assigned tasks. Work is reviewed while in progress and upon completion by observation and through results obtained.
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED
- Two (2) years of experience in the operation of assigned equipment required; or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
- Must be able to read, write, and follow instructions.
- Florida Commercial Driver's License Class A, B, or C required prior to employment depending on equipment assigned to position.
- Some positions may require a tanker endorsement permit prior to employment.
- Some positions may require passing an annual respirator physical; no facial hair allowed between the face and sealing surface of the respirator.
