Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • At least one year in a grounds related field
  • Operation of heavy equipment and campus vehicles, including grounds trucks, dump trucks, and Ventrac equipment
  • Ability to safely use power tools and landscaping equipment, including mowers, ladders, chainsaws, weed whackers, blowers, and hedge trimmers
  • Basic mechanical aptitude for minor vehicle and equipment maintenance

Responsibilities

  • Daily cleanup of all garbage from campus grounds
  • Mow lawns using walk-behind mowers, riding mowers, and Ventrac equipment
  • Rake leaves and perform seasonal debris removal
  • Shovel snow and assist with snow and ice control operations
  • Repair concrete and paved areas
  • Hedge shrubs and trim landscaping
  • Prune trees or remove trees when necessary
  • Install, maintain, and repair sprinkler and irrigation systems
  • Plant flowers and perform seasonal plantings
  • Install and maintain landscaping features
  • Dig trenches as required
  • Perform fertilizing and pest management activities
  • Safely operate campus vehicles, including grounds trucks and dump trucks
  • Use ladders, chainsaws, weed whackers, blowers, hedge trimmers, and other grounds equipment as required
  • Maintain a clean and organized shop and work areas
  • Perform minor vehicle and equipment repairs
  • Install and repair fencing
  • Perform storm drain maintenance
  • Assist with Christmas decorating and seasonal decorations
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs
  • Perform any other duties as requested
