About The Position

As an Equipment Operator, you will be expected to contribute on job sites in Northern California and Southern California, The SouthWest US, and Pacific NorthWest US. This is a travel-based position for which nearly all work will occur on the road. Job durations will range from 1 to 4 weeks and will be undertaken by a cross functional team of 2 to 3 members handling all trades required to get the work done, together. The crew will remain consistent throughout the job and from job to job allowing for team cohesion and improvement as a group. This team will be expected to push the limits of construction technology and techniques, and as such will have direct feedback contact with design engineers, project managers, and business developers related to the program. A well-qualified applicant will have experience in many aspects of civil and underground utility installation. The role will be asked to work alongside and participate in various trades as well as train new employees and educate other members of the organization about the complexities of construction implementation.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7+ years as an equipment operator.
  • Experience in carpentry and concrete finishing is a plus.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications.
  • Strong working knowledge of job site safety and ability to evaluate job hazards.
  • Ability to produce parts lists, work plans based on drawings or field walks, and as-built drawings.
  • Experience operating excavator, bobcat, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and forklifts.
  • OSHA-10 preferred and CPR-first aid certification.
  • Ability to use trade tools, meters, technology, and other necessary equipment.
  • Ability to lift and pull a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Capable of working at heights and performing repetitious duties.
  • Valid driver's license required.

  • Flexibility to work on weekends and/or overtime.
  • Willingness to stay overnight to support Tesla's critical mission.

Responsibilities

  • Manipulating heavy equipment in a safe manner.
  • Performing maintenance checks on machinery.
  • Implementing safety measures and adhering to operating safety policies.
  • Handling inventories and removing debris.
  • Keeping work areas clean by collecting scrap or excess materials and disposing of refuse.
  • Completing necessary work reports and providing recommendations on improving environmental performance.
  • Being aware of underground utilities and conforming to health and safety regulations.
  • Understanding the rules and requirements of 811 (dig alert).
