About The Position

Team Elmer's seeks to fill a full-time seasonal opening for a Paver Equipment Operator for a spring start . Duties and Responsibilities: Paver Operator - Operate paving machines that spread and level hot mix asphalt paving material on subgrade of highways and streets with the aid of stakes and level gauges to ensure mix is placed at the proper grade and thickness. Preheat paving screed before placement of asphalt. Control paving machine to dump truck and maintain constant flow of asphalt into hopper. Observe distribution of paving material along screed and control direction of screed to eliminate voids at curbs and joints. Attach extensions to screed to adjust width. Keep paver maintenance. Maintain CDL license to haul paver from job to job. The above list of job duties is not exclusive or exhaustive and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks as may reasonably be expected within the scope of the position.

Requirements

• Valid license, CDL A required.
• Minimum 3 years experience
• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• Clean driving record for past 5 years
• Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen
• Mechanical -- Knowledge of equipment, machines and tools including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Building and Construction-- Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures such as highways and roads.
• Ability to complete tasks on asphalt crew as needed such as handling power tools, running heavy equipment, raking, shoveling.
• Ability and willingness to learn and understand your role on the team.
• Ability to work long hours and perform repetitive lifting, carrying, climbing, and walking.
• Repetitive lifting could be 40 or more pounds at any one time.
• Ability to work long hours and 5-6 days a week in all environmental conditions.
• Good work ethic, punctuality and alertness.
• Ability to follow all company, DOT, OSHA, and MiOSHA safety rules.

Nice To Haves

• Experience as a prep crew laborer or comparable experience is preferred.
