About The Position

We are seeking energetic, passionate people who enjoy the outdoors and want to play a key role for the position of Equipment Operator 4 within the Division of Forestry, headquartered at Blue Rock State Forest, assigned to Muskingum county. Please note this position requires a Class A Commercial Driver's License with no restrictions. What you will do… Operate heavy motorized equipment to complete a variety of construction and maintenance functions. Perform wildlife support (e.g., forest fire line construction, trails, culverts, roads & bridges). Perform general maintenance & repairs on equipment & buildings/ground maintenance. Lead worker with equipment operation. Help maintain/repair paved & gravel forest roads, hiking trails, bridle trails, a primitive horse camp, bridges & culverts. Starting hourly pay of $22.60/hr with multiple pay increases over your first 4.5 years of service, with an end salary of $25.77/hr

Requirements

  • Formal education in arithmetic to include fractions, decimals & percentages & to read, write & speak common English vocabulary
  • 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in operation of heavy construction equipment (e.g., 10 ton crawler, large cranes, 10 ton backhoe, 18 ton dozer, over 44,000 pound gradall, truck mounted excavator) & related safety practices
  • Valid commercial driver's license
  • In addition, for positions in Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forestry Wildfire Program only, must successfully complete Basic Firefighter Introduction to Fire Behavior Course (S-130/S-190).
  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
