About The Position

Reporting to the Foreman, is responsible for the safe and effective operation of one or more vehicles, or pieces of equipment, involved with grading, scooping, and hauling of dirt; delivering supplies and materials; perform routine maintenance; maintain log books and report all malfunctions. Must be able to perform physical labor for sustained periods of time with exposure to the elements. This position requires a willingness to work irregular hours, weekends and holidays as necessary.

Requirements

• Some ability to learn the principles and practices of street construction and maintenance.
• Current New Mexico Driver’s License required.
• New Mexico CDL, Class B License with airbrakes and tanker endorsement required.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision.
• Show aptitude for safe operation of assigned automotive equipment.
• Must follow instructions, procedures and City safety rules and regulations.
• Ability to follow through on work assignments.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience desired, but not required.
• High school diploma or equivalent desired.

Responsibilities

• The safe, efficient and effective operation of front-end loaders (in excess of 8 tons) as well as various trucks and pieces of equipment such as a back-hoe, tractor, dump truck, chip spreader, oiler, street sweeper and related equipment. Training is provided.
• Performs routine servicing of vehicles and equipment such as changing oil, lubrication, fixing flats, changing filters, pumping gas, washing, cleaning and painting.
• Maintains log books and report all malfunctions immediately.
• Perform routine cleaning as directed.
• On-call responsibilities for after- hours duties.
