About The Position

The City of Santa Rosa is seeking motivated and hardworking Equipment Mechanics to join the Fleet Services Section of the Transportation and Public Works Department. This role involves providing critical maintenance and repair services for a variety of municipal vehicles and equipment, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently. The position offers opportunities for career growth and is available at two levels: Equipment Mechanic I and Equipment Mechanic II, depending on the candidate's skills and experience.

Requirements

• Two or more years of professional journey level experience in vehicle maintenance and repair.
• Knowledge of safety standards and precautions necessary in the work environment.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repair work on a wide range of motor vehicles including light trucks, passenger vehicles, emergency vehicles, transit buses, and heavy equipment.
• Ensure compliance with established rules and regulations for vehicle and equipment maintenance.
• Work independently and collaboratively within a team to complete assigned tasks.
• Demonstrate knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety precautions in the workplace.
