About The Position

Alpha Inc. is seeking a high-ownership, action-oriented Equipment Manager to keep our fleet mission-ready—safe, compliant, and available—so our teams can execute without delay. This role is core to operational performance: when equipment is dialed, projects move. When it isn’t, everything stalls. You’ll own the day-to-day operations of equipment management, inventory control, and equipment maintenance—leading the equipment team and coordinating across departments to support field execution. Requirements

  • 5+ years of management experience in heavy equipment operations or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in heavy civil construction or equipment fleet management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with HCSS or Adobe Acrobat preferred.
  • A leadership style built on accountability, clarity, and respect—able to set standards and keep teams aligned.
  • Strong operational judgment with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in Hawaiʻi or remote island construction environments
  • Familiarity with fleet tracking / maintenance platforms and job cost or operations dashboards
  • Safety training leadership experience and a strong compliance mindset
  • Certifications related to equipment operations, safety, or maintenance leadership (a plus)

Responsibilities

  • Oversee scheduling, maintenance, and repair of all equipment to ensure availability and efficiency.
  • Lead a team of heavy equipment mechanics through inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Manage utilization by tracking usage, fuel, and performance to support readiness and compliance.
  • Manage procurement of new, used, and rented equipment plus parts, tools, and supplies.
  • Maintain inventory and oversee security procedures for equipment and tools.
  • Issue purchase orders per company policies; manage work orders, invoice reconciliation, and related administrative duties.
  • Manage equipment budget development and procurement strategies.
  • Ensure equipment is properly licensed, permitted, registered, and titled.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including safety laws and OSHA standards.
  • Own PPE management and lead safety awareness programs for employees.
  • Coordinate safety training for new equipment operators and periodically review safety protocols.
  • Coordinate equipment insurance and claims management; investigate damages, assess impact, and implement corrective measures.
  • Address challenges that arise during the lifecycle of equipment and ensure operational success.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support equipment and operational performance.
