Equipment Maintenance Technician (Night Shift): Summary: Be the on‑duty technical expert who keeps our manufacturing equipment safe, reliable, and running at its best. You’ll own fast repairs, smart PMs, and data‑driven improvements—while building your skills and career in a Continuous Improvement culture where safety is paramount and technical growth is expected.

Requirements

  • AA/AS in Industrial Technology , Mechatronics , Electronics , Electrical/Mechanical Engineering Technology , or related field, OR a high school diploma/GED with 4+ years of relevant maintenance experience.
  • 3+ years maintaining high‑vacuum thin‑film/sputtering systems, spectrophotometers, PLC‑controlled equipment, and vacuum pumps (turbo/cryo/rotary vane).
  • Read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and P&IDs; use meters/scopes, vibration/thermal tools, and leak detection (helium/Mass Spec).
  • Perform alignments/calibration; change targets, clean/bake chambers, verify base pressure and pump‑down curves.
  • PLC/HMI basics (I/O checks, safe fault resets, parameter/recipe backup/restore).
  • Working knowledge of LOTO/energy isolation , Electrical Safety, Stored Energy Control.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years in a manufacturing environment with hands‑on responsibility for uptime, PMs, rebuilds, and root‑cause analysis on the equipment listed above.
  • Allen‑Bradley or Siemens PLC exposure; HMI diagnostics; spectrophotometer calibration (wavelength/intensity) and certification.
  • RF/DC power supply troubleshooting, MFC verification, thickness monitoring (e.g., QCM), RGA usage, chamber leak detection and remediation.
  • CMMS proficiency (work orders, cause codes, parts consumption), experience converting fixes into standard work / PM updates , and contributing to FOE improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Restore fast, restore safe: diagnose and repair electrical/mechanical faults using meters, scopes, vibration/thermal tools; perform alignments, calibrations, and emergency fixes to minimize downtime.
  • Run PMs that matter: execute CMMS‑scheduled inspections, lubrication, torque checks; replace wear items and keep equipment clean and organized (6S).
  • Own reliability: reload parameters/recipes, perform safe PLC/drive resets per SOP, and verify readiness before releasing equipment to production.
  • Rebuild & improve: rebuild subassemblies to spec; install/commission components; implement minor hardware/software mods with Equipment Engineering.
  • Support the plant: maintain compressed air, vacuum, cooling water and related utilities to keep lines stable.
  • Safety first. Always. Follow the EH&S Charter , LOTO, PPE, permits, and stop‑work authority.
  • Clear communication: lead/attend shift turnover; ensure logs are accurate and current before handoff.
  • Documentation that drives decisions: open/close CMMS work orders with causes, parts, time, and actions; report daily performance and interruptions.
  • Learn by doing: lead root‑cause investigations, convert fixes into standard work and PM updates, and help raise MTBF.
  • Build technical range: get exposure to motors, drives/servos, sensors, pneumatics/hydraulics, gearboxes, and utilities.
  • Advance with impact: contribute to design reviews and hazard assessments focused on maintainability and serviceability; propose hardware/software changes that improve reliability.
  • Mentorship & pathing: collaborate with Maintenance Shift Leads and Manufacturing Engineering; grow from technician to lead/subject‑matter expert as you demonstrate results.
