About The Position

The Equipment Maintenance Technician is responsible for all support operations pertaining to the usage and maintenance of equipment delivered at customer sites. They are the customer interface for AIT’s on-site activities; they have strong communication and client service skills. They apply knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic principles in determining equipment malfunctions and restores equipment to operation. They support maintenance, production and factory equipment, and tooling in the customer’s facility.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum one-year related experience as a Tool Maker or Tool Maintenance Technician, combined with training.
  • Thorough understanding of controls software in an automated environment.
  • Reads and understands blueprints, schematics, and/or measuring devices.
  • Understand Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Follows processes and standard procedures.
  • Hands on, get it done attitude.
  • Uses hand tools and power tools, proficient in operating small machines, such as drill press, lathe, mill, surface grinder, saw, etc., ability to use MIG and TIG welding equipment.
  • Work in a high energy, high volume, rapidly changing environment.
  • Displays a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner.
  • Achieves thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task through concern for all the areas involved.
  • Clear and effective communication skills in both written and spoken forms.
  • Understands how to use the computers, including such tasks as turning the computer on and off, locating and opening files, navigate to websites, operate CMMS programs, perform searches, and download files.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and disassemble tooling and production equipment.
  • Start up and shuts down equipment in accordance with operation’s requirements, company safety procedures and OSHA requirements for machine activation and shutdown.
  • Locate source of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Remove defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, and straightedges.
  • Read, understand, and follow advanced job order specifications, blueprints, work instructions and procedures.
  • Lift, load, sort, and move materials, supplies, and finished products between storage and work areas, using pushcart, hoist, or dolly.
  • Safely perform duties utilizing elevated platform equipment at various heights.
  • Assemble components accurately, thoroughly and quickly to approved specifications
  • Operate equipment in a safe manner and uses safe work habits.
  • Promote and comply with good safety practices and habits, including but not limited to, use of all PPE.
  • Assemble components by examining connections for correct fit; fastening parts and sub-assemblies with hand tools, power tools, or bench machines.
  • Inspect, test, and verify accuracy of assembled article for conformance to standards, using measuring or testing equipment, or by visual examination. Informs supervisors of any parts or equipment defects to ensure prompt response to the problem.
  • Clean dust, dirt, and other foreign matter from material or machine surfaces, using cleaning solution, rag, air hose.
  • Measure and marks reference lines and points on parts according to specifications, using template, rule, or marking device.
  • Cut materials, such as fabric, metal, paper, or wood into specified dimensions or shapes, using cutting machine, scissors, or knife.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
