About The Position

The Equipment Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the planning, scheduling, and execution of maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability and minimize operational downtime. This role leads the coordination of maintenance projects, develops preventive maintenance schedules, and ensures all work complies with health, safety, and environmental regulations. The Equipment Maintenance Supervisor manages maintenance budgets, monitors expenditures, and secures specialized contractors when needed. The position also oversees inventory management to maintain adequate parts and materials for efficient shop operations. Success in this role requires strong leadership, technical knowledge of mechanical systems, effective organizational and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment .

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred with at least 4 years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other spreadsheet, database, and graphic programs
  • Ability to multi task, prioritize work, and manage multiple projects with competing deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively in a team setting
  • Proactive, flexible, and self motivated with the ability to take initiative
  • Valid driver’s license and TWIC or the ability to obtain a TWIC
  • Mechanical repair experience, typically several years, with emphasis on specific vehicles or equipment
  • Relevant certifications such as ASE or equivalent
  • Leadership ability to manage teams and coordinate tasks effectively
  • Strong problem solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issue
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in a mechanical shop environment
  • Must meet “fit for duty” requirements upon job offer, including a pre‑employment physical and drug test
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, crouch, and kneel for extended periods
  • Ability to talk, hear, and see clearly in support of safe and effective job performance
  • Ability to reach, handle, finger, and feel equipment, tools, keyboards, and mobile devices
  • Ability to work in challenging environments with exposure to all weather conditions, including rain, ice, snow, wind, and heat
  • Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb up and down ladders and stairs, and safely navigate uneven or moving surfaces

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating Maintenance Projects: Oversee the scheduling, planning, and execution of maintenance tasks to reduce downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
  • Ensuring Compliance with Safety Regulations: Uphold all health, safety, and environmental standards to protect employees, contractors, and the public.
  • Developing Maintenance Schedules: Create and implement routine and preventive maintenance plans to ensure equipment reliability and extend asset life.
  • Managing Budgets and Forecasts: Estimate project costs, track expenditures, and secure specialized contractors or services when required.
  • Inventory Management: Order, track, and maintain appropriate inventory levels to ensure the shop is fully stocked with necessary parts and materials.
