Requirements

  • 2-3 years of technical maintenance or related experience/training; or equivalent combination of education, experience and training.
  • Certified Material Handling Engineer Mechanic.
  • Experience: 2-4 years of on-the-job experience with electronics and mechanical equipment.
  • Machining and fabrication experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex equipment.
  • Solid understanding of material handling equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Oral and written communication skills to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and handle a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Clearly communicate with other employees and build relationships with employees, supervisors/managers, customers, as well as outside contractors.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work well independently.
  • Good judgement is required as there may be times when immediate supervision is not available.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the prompt repair and ongoing maintenance of more complex material handling equipment issues.
  • Provide recommendation to repair or replace poorly functioning equipment and assist in developing a preventive maintenance schedule.
  • Efficiently prioritize repair schedule to ensure an uninterrupted production schedule.
  • Ensure an adequate inventory of necessary spare parts and materials is maintained.
  • Keep management informed of areas activities and of significant concerns.
  • Report major concerns or significant problems.
  • Provide quality oversight to lesser experienced Technicians and perform other relevant job duties as required.
  • Manage installation of RF unit and scan guns.
  • Handle more complex diagnostics and repairs including but not limited to electrical systems, hydraulic and brake systems.
  • Perform duties in accordance with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) policies and procedures, as appropriate for location.
