About The Position

The Equipment Inspection Manager serves as the technical authority and lead professional for equipment quality assurance and inspection activities, ensuring drilling tools, tubulars, and associated machinery meet all applicable API, ISO, regulatory, and company standards. This role is responsible for developing and overseeing inspection criteria, managing QA/QC inspection teams, witnessing critical testing, analyzing nonconformance trends, and driving corrective and preventive actions. The Equipment Inspection Manager ensures that inspection programs are executed with technical rigor, operational discipline, and full regulatory compliance. The role requires advanced knowledge of API specifications, NDT methods, inspection techniques, and documentation standards. Work is performed independently and reviewed at critical checkpoints. The Equipment Inspection Manager regularly interfaces with internal operations, engineering teams, third-party inspectors, and external auditors. This is a fully qualified, experienced professional-level role with responsibility for technical leadership, compliance oversight, and quality execution.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in drilling tool, tubular, or industrial equipment inspection
  • Demonstrated experience applying API standards in field or manufacturing environments
  • Strong working knowledge of API standards (e.g., API 5CT, 7-1, 16A) and relevant ISO standards
  • Proficiency with inspection gauges, dimensional measurement tools, and pressure testing equipment
  • Experience with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods (e.g., UT, MT, PT)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and compliance requirements
  • Proficiency in quality documentation systems and inspection reporting tools
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in complex situations
  • Ability to work in industrial and manufacturing environments
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and climbing
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Exposure to noise, heavy equipment, and industrial work conditions
  • Ability to wear required PPE at all times

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading inspection teams or providing technical supervision preferred
  • Experience supporting regulatory, customer, or third-party audits strongly preferred
  • ASNT Level II or III certification preferred; NACE or other industry certifications desirable

Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and regulatory requirements
  • Enforce adherence to API, ISO, and company inspection standards
  • Maintain audit readiness for customers, regulatory, and internal audits
  • Verify that safety-critical elements (SCEs) are inspected, documented, and certified in accordance with applicable requirements
  • Promote a culture of safety, compliance, and quality accountability
  • Develop, implement, and maintain inspection and testing procedures for drilling tools, tubulars, pressure control equipment, and associated machinery
  • Establish inspection frequency, criteria, and acceptance standards in accordance with API (e.g., API 5CT, 7-1, 16A), ISO, and project-specific requirements
  • Oversee dimensional inspections, NDT testing, pressure testing, and functional verification activities
  • Witness pressure tests and validate third-party certifications and test documentation
  • Ensure inspection tools, gauges, and measuring devices are calibrated and properly maintained
  • Prepare and review detailed inspection reports, daily quality summaries, and compliance documentation
  • Manage Nonconformance Reports (NCRs), corrective action tracking, and verification of closure
  • Oversee Material Record Books (MRBs), certifications, and traceability documentation
  • Ensure inspection records are accurate, complete, and retained in accordance with company and regulatory standards
  • Support customer documentation reviews and technical submittals
  • Lead, mentor, and provide day-to-day technical guidance to QA/QC inspectors and technicians
  • Assign inspection tasks and prioritize workload based on operational and project requirements
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback for skill development
  • Train team members on inspection procedures, NDT methods, documentation requirements, and compliance standards
  • Promote professionalism, accountability, and continuous technical improvement
  • Analyze equipment failure trends, downtime reports, and quality metrics
  • Identify recurring issues and implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Recommend process improvements to manufacturing, repair, or maintenance workflows
  • Support quality audits and internal process improvement initiatives
  • Contribute to standardization of inspection procedures and best practices
