About The Position

Bloom Energy, a solid oxide fuel cell company, is looking for an Equipment Engineering Intern to join its world class Stack Development team. This individual should be a dynamic professional who has a strong interest in the energy sector and a passion for electromechanical system design. The Equipment Engineering Intern supports the Stack Development team by overseeing test equipment design, ensuring equipment is properly maintained, optimized for performance, and aligned with testing needs. This includes troubleshooting hardware issues, supporting continuous improvement efforts, and collaborating on process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce tool downtime.

Requirements

  • Currently a student earning a Bachelor’s in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Must be graduating between spring 2026 and summer 2027

  • Experience or course work requiring use of lab electronics (i.e. multimeter, oscilloscope, breadboard circuits, etc.)

  • Ability to communicate with all levels within the organization in a verbal and written manner - managers, co-workers, support services, electronic communications, et al.
  • O rganizational and planning skills
  • Strong sense of ownership and workmanship
  • Computer savvy - MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SolidWorks
  • Programming experience is a plus (C, C++, LabVIEW, MATLAB, Visual Basic, etc.)
  • Exposure to electrochemistry, fuel cell, or battery technology is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Work with stack engineering and maintenance teams to design upgrades to existing electromechanical systems, design tooling and fixtures, and generate documentation (fabrication drawings, P&IDs, wiring diagrams)
  • Research and specify specialized test hardware, fixtures, and data acquisition equipment
  • Participate in design reviews with engineering team
  • Make recommendations for improved test designs
  • Work with outside vendors and machine shops to procure materials
  • Willing to roll up your sleeves to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues
