About The Position

Johnson Controls is hiring an Equipment Agent Branch Operations Manager to lead the System Application Engineers in their support of the construction sales team. This role involves ensuring that assigned projects are implemented profitably, accurately, and on-time, while also maintaining alignment with customer expectations. The manager will focus on equipment slippage, avoiding and minimizing it, and will follow up to prevent re-occurrence. The position requires maintaining a proper balance of pre and post sales activities to meet overall customer expectations through coaching and daily guidance, as well as providing training support on project management practices and the Johnson Controls equipment order execution process. The role also includes supporting pre-sales activities such as system configuration validation, HVAC equipment selection, and the development of accurate, detailed submittals to communicate design and installation requirements to various stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum of five or more years of progressively responsible operations management experience in the Building Construction Industry.
  • Five or more years of direct project management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide coaching and daily guidance on performance of assigned System Application Engineers.
  • Function as a Systems Application Engineer where appropriate based on branch requirements.
  • Perform all System Application Engineer duties for highly complex or strategic projects as assigned.
  • Provide recommendations for performance evaluations to HVAC Sales Operations Manager.
  • Follow up on customer satisfaction issues and drive resolution.
  • Develop and build relationships between the SAEs and their assigned Account Execs, contractors, customers, consultants, and vendors.
  • Develop and implement a formal technical training program for each of the System Application Engineers.
  • Ensure SAEs provide proper turnover to service team and coordinate with LSSs/PM on joint projects.
  • Act as the first level of customer concern for issues related to equipment orders and customer satisfaction.
  • Act as the domain expert on equipment to assist in interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Identify gaps in technical expertise of the SAEs and implement plans to address these gaps.
  • Review SAEs equipment and controls estimates, proposals, and engineering submittals.
  • Communicate process problems and warranty trends to corporate leadership.
  • Participate in review sessions and feedback groups.
  • Monitor and support System Application Engineer teams in their assigned duties.
