Diagnose, repair, inspect and maintain motorized and mechanical equipment related to construction, highway maintenance, grounds, and automotive equipment of all types and in varied locations. How you will contribute: Diagnosis and Repair: Diagnose vehicle, equipment or asset failures using electronic testing equipment, service and equipment repair manuals and on-line resources. Recommend outsourcing for major repairs when needed. Emergency Operations: Prepare equipment for emergency operations. Make equipment repairs to reduce downtime during emergency operations to include on-the-road repairs. Information Processing and Paperwork: Prepare, process, and maintain required maintenance and repair documentation. Generate, complete and close-out work orders in computer system. Perform time and leave entry. Prepare parts requests. Complete paperwork for warranty inspections and repairs. Perform Repair Work: Perform repairs and overhauls to all types of automobiles, equipment and tools to include engines, transmissions, driveline components, electrical and computer systems, fuel injection systems, air conditioning, heating and ventilation systems, hydraulic systems, pneumatic components and air brakes. Preventive Maintenance: Perform preventive maintenance on vehicles, equipment or assets according to PM schedule and guidelines. Make repairs as needed when deficiencies are found or recommend outsourcing. Virginia State Inspections: Perform safety inspections under the guidelines of the Virginia State Police Inspection program for vehicles and equipment. Welding Repair and Fabrication: Design, fabricate, modify, and weld components to repair, rebuild, or replace parts.
