This position involves operating various power-driven machinery, specifically focusing on cranes, to move dirt or other materials. The role requires setting up and operating production equipment according to established guidelines, adjusting machine settings for task completion, and controlling operating equipment using hand and foot levers. The operator must interpret hand signals for material placement and may need to manipulate equipment on unlevel surfaces. The role also includes assisting in lifting, positioning, and securing materials, performing routine maintenance or repairs, and ensuring compliance with all safety and project rules. The individual will observe load hook-up to determine safety, manipulate crane controls for speed and direction, clean and maintain the crane, inspect for defective parts, and report malfunctions. They will also load, transport, and unload materials, tools, equipment, and supplies, and perform minor maintenance on tools and equipment. The position typically reports to a supervisor or manager and does not usually require independent judgment.
