About The Position

Under the supervision of the GDAL Equine Herd Manager, this position provides essential support for faculty and students in equine-related classes and fieldwork. Responsibilities include assisting with classes and labs, providing general animal care, and maintaining facilities and equipment to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • No prior experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • 0–2 years of experience in animal care, equine handling, or related agricultural work.

Responsibilities

  • Assist faculty and students during classes, labs, and fieldwork activities.
  • Provide general animal care, including feeding, handling, training, health checks, breeding, and parturition monitoring.
  • Maintain and clean facilities, stalls, and equipment.
  • Record and maintain accurate data and records for demonstrations and student instruction.
  • Operate basic equipment and vehicles, including animal transportation.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers and student employees; may supervise student workers.
  • Monitor inventory and assist with ordering feed and supplies as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
