About The Position

The Equine Assisted Therapy Assistant Facilitator is responsible for assisting clients with horsemanship and guiding clients through equine assisted therapy. No prior experience with equine assisted therapy is necessary, but the ideal candidate is someone dedicated to horsemanship, living a sober lifestyle, and promoting positive mental health and well-being. The person hired for this position must obtain Equine Assisted Wellness (EAW) certification.

Requirements

  • Must possess some experience with livestock
  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the Comanche Nation motor vehicle policy
  • Must be willing to submit to and pass drug testing
  • Must be willing to submit to and pass a background investigation
  • Must be willing to promote abstinence from drugs and alcohol
  • Must be willing to learn and promote Comanche cultural beliefs concerning horses and horsemanship
  • Must comply with Comanche Nation policies and procedures
  • Must maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

Responsibilities

  • Caring for Comanche Nation-owned horses, including feeding and watering, assisting with veterinary care, grooming horses, and performing routine maintenance of horse stables, tack, and other equipment
  • Serve as facilitator for equine therapy sessions and instruct clients on horsemanship skills
  • Maintain confidentiality of client therapy sessions
