About The Position

The Senior Project Manager has accountability to partner with an operational sponsor/leader(s) to assemble and manage the project team responsible to plan, organize, oversee activities needed to achieve the project objectives, and recommend and secure resources required for successful project completion. The projects managed are complex in nature. This role will work Monday-Friday during regular business hours. Although the majority of this position will work remotely, some on-site presence for project needs or department meetings will be required. Essential Functions Coordinate with the Program Manager on projects designated as part of a program (group of related projects). Projects under the oversight of the Senior Project Manager are typically at the region or function level. Oversee all aspects of Project Life Cycle. Proficiently manage 3 to 5 unique projects and assist other project managers in challenging situations while serving as mentor to others within and across teams. Rigorously manage scope, budget, schedule, and risks including development of solid mitigation strategies that can be executed quickly to avoid project delays. Develop communication plans and provides transparency to stakeholders and leadership. Validates financial forecasts and expected benefits to track actual value to expected results, reconciling resources and other project expenses. Responsible for the project team’s adherence to Intermountain-designated governance and processes that include a structured approach that applies expert knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to a project to meet project objectives. Ensures all projects have gone through the designated governance approval and prioritization processes. May provide project supervisory oversight of the work for one or more Associate Project Managers and/or Project Managers, keeping the caregivers’ direct leader appraised of work performance. Senior Project Managers assigned to a unique service area as a technical specialist for an area of project management (e.g., information technology, construction management, etc.) are accountable to apply specific technical specialty skills and requirements necessary to successfully plan and deliver projects in that area.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including non-supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Expert Level Certified Program or Project Management designation is preferred. Qualifying certifications include PMI-PMP, PMI-PgMP, PMI-PfMP, AHA-CHC, IAPM-CSPM, IAPM-CSAPM, AAPM-Master Project Manager, GAQM-Certified Project Director, PMI-ACP, PMI-DASSM, PMI-DAC, and/or PMI-DAVSC
  • Lean process certification or demonstrated equivalent skill is preferred.
  • 3 or more years proven leadership experience including non-supervisory roles is preferred.
  • Merger and Acquisition integration project management experience is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a field such as business administration, information technology, construction management, or heathcare is preferred.
  • The degree must be from an accredited institution and will be verified.
  • Prior experience working in an integrated healthcare delivery organization is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in organizational and cultural change management is preferred.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously preferred.
  • Experience working as a project manager preferred.
