About The Position

Ramsey County is seeking a dedicated and experienced Epidemiologist to join their dynamic team. This role focuses on contributing to the health and well-being of residents through data-driven research and impactful public health initiatives. The Epidemiologist will identify problems, gather and analyze data, and make recommendations as part of an interdisciplinary team that plans public health activities and programs.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in epidemiology, public health, nursing, microbiology, environmental health, biostatistics, or a related field.
  • One year of full-time equivalent work experience in epidemiology.
  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field and two additional years of work experience in epidemiology may substitute for the education requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, direct, conduct and evaluate the epidemiological investigation of disease outbreaks and other adverse health events in the county.
  • Coordinate disease investigations with other public health professionals and governmental agencies.
  • Conduct epidemiological analysis of factors pertinent to adverse health events and perform intervention/evaluation studies.
  • Assist in identifying public health problems and developing effective intervention strategies.
  • Administer and maintain the communicable disease reporting and surveillance system in coordination with the Minnesota Department of Health.
  • Provide training to community partners on electronic disease data systems and distribute health threat information.
  • Prepare reports, summaries, and studies on investigations of adverse health events and evaluate public health program goals and objectives.
  • Provide consultation, information, and education to medical providers and local government officials on issues related to adverse health events.
  • Prepare accurate, timely information for the news media during disease investigations.
