About The Position

The Epidemiologist position at the Department of Health and Human Services focuses on identifying and analyzing public health issues, providing expert advice on data science tools, and participating in the synthesis of social science and epidemiologic data to design effective prevention programs. Requirements

• Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in a field related to medical, health sciences, or allied sciences.
• For GS-11: One year of specialized experience or equivalent to GS-09, including assisting with epidemiological studies and disease data surveillance.
• For GS-12: One year of specialized experience or equivalent to GS-11, including conducting epidemiological studies and disease data surveillance.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with statistical software and data analysis tools.
• Knowledge of public health policies and practices.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.

Responsibilities

• Identify and analyze public health issues and their impact on public policies or epidemiologic studies or surveys.
• Provide advice on the use of data science tools, methods, and statistical learning models to collect, link, process, code, classify, and analyze public health surveillance, research, and administrative data.
• Serve as an Epidemiologist consultant for public health programs or projects, addressing technical challenges in program execution.
• Participate in the synthesis of social science and epidemiologic data to design effective prevention programs and practice guidelines.
