About The Position

The position involves greeting patients and guests courteously while initiating the check-in process for patients either in person or via telephone. The role requires obtaining and verifying accurate identification and demographic data for the patient's permanent medical record, assisting in accurate reimbursement, and maintaining the confidentiality of all patient information. The individual will manage point-of-service interactions and ensure a smooth patient registration and admission process.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year related experience in hospital, clinic, medical office, business services/revenue cycle, front line registration, financial counseling, banking, retail, hotel and/or customer service or call center related position.
  • Experience with basic prioritization and organization skills.
  • Ability to handle several tasks and interruptions in a positive manner with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with maintaining teamwork, professionalism, customer satisfaction, and mutual respect of others.
  • Demonstrated competency to gather and disseminate information through effective communication with a diverse range of people.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient with Windows-style applications and various software packages specific to role.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to confidentially handle sensitive information.

Responsibilities

  • Creates and activates patient services accounts.
  • Registers patients on computer systems for their appointment and/or admission.
  • Informs patients of financial responsibility and estimated costs of services.
  • Reads department documentation sheets to discharge patients on patient registration log or registration system.
  • Makes revisions to registration system immediately as errors are recognized.
  • Completes daily balance of cash drawer and prepares cash log at the end of the shift if working at a registration site.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy and communication style.
