About The Position

Under the general guidance and direction of the Enterprise Applications Director, the Epic Cogito Analyst (ECA) is responsible for designing data models, and visualizations, by using Epic Cogito tools as well as third party visualization tools to satisfy requests from various GHC-SCW end users and leadership throughout the organization. The ECA will focus on working with consumers to create Reporting Workbench, Radar, and SlicerDicer solutions to meet those needs; or using reporting/visualization solutions outside of Epic when the afore mentioned solutions do not meet the requesters needs. The ECA will be responsible for empowering users with Epic-based data across the organization, providing a unique blend of clinical, business, technical, and analytical expertise. The ECA, with the Enterprise Applications Director oversees the development and utilization of Epic reporting tools throughout the organization to drive strategic initiatives, improve safety & quality of care, and streamline operations. Additionally, the ECA will be responsible for coordinating system upgrades, implementing new functionality, project planning, deployment of resources, as they relate to the Epic Cogito module. The incumbent ensures that Epic data analytics solutions meet the clinical/business initiatives of GHC-SCW. Work products impact overall business activities. The incumbent performs under the direction, guidance and general supervision of the Enterprise Applications Director.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferably focused in business, finance, healthcare, or mathematics; or equivalent business experience required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of work experience in a healthcare or related environment performing data analysis, data flow, and program development and interpretation required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of writing SQL queries
  • Epic certification in Cogito required within six months of hire.
  • Ability to work in a consultative approach with users in assessing needs and requirements.
  • Demonstrated competency in strategic thinking and leadership.
  • Ability to analyze data and present it in a format that is easily understood by end-users required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge or ability to learn healthcare utilization practices and healthcare terminology required. Knowledge of or ability to learn health insurance and healthcare analyses required.
  • Proven ability to proactively identify opportunities for sustainable and long-term improvement for the department, division, and enterprise.
  • Ability to act as a meeting facilitator required.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical abilities required.
  • Effective planning, organizational and communication skills required. Ability to be articulate and clear in both written and verbal communications; ability to look at situations from multiple perspectives and actively listen to gain mutual understanding of problem or situation.

  • Ability to work flexible hours (including evenings and weekends) and occasional travel required.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with analytics visualization software (e.g., SQL Query, Web Intelligence, Power BI or Tableau) is preferred.
  • Certification in other Epic Cogito modules preferred.
  • Training in Epic applications (e.g., Tapestry, Resolute, Epic Care, Cadence) preferred.
  • Experience giving presentations to management and staff preferred. Demonstrated ability to translate information into terminology understood at all levels. Ability to understand that different audiences have different needs for clarity.
