About The Position

The Epic ClinDoc/Stork Analyst is responsible for the design, build, implementation, optimization, and ongoing support of the Epic ClinDoc and Stork applications. This role collaborates closely with nursing leadership, clinical staff, obstetrics teams, and operational stakeholders to ensure Epic supports safe, efficient, and high‑quality inpatient and obstetric workflows. The Analyst serves as a subject matter expert in clinical documentation and obstetric workflows, a technical troubleshooter, and a liaison between end users, clinical leadership, IT, and Epic.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, healthcare, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 1–3+ years of clinical documentation, inpatient nursing, OB/L&D, or EHR system experience.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and workflow‑mapping skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Epic ClinDoc and/or Stork certification or willingness to obtain within 6 months.
  • RN, LPN, or other clinical background preferred, especially in inpatient, OB, L&D, or women’s services.
  • Experience with clinical regulatory requirements and quality initiatives.
  • Familiarity with clinical documentation standards, care plans, and nursing workflow optimization.
  • Experience with Epic Hyperspace, Reporting Workbench, SmartTools, or clinical decision support is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Configure and maintain Epic ClinDoc and Stork functionality including flowsheets, smart documentation tools, order sets, care plans, documentation templates, OB tracking boards, labor & delivery workflows, and newborn records.
  • Analyze clinical requirements and translate them into system design aligned with best practice and regulatory standards.
  • Build and maintain nursing documentation tools such as care plans, navigator sections, BPAs, SmartForms, SmartTexts, and smart phrases.
  • Support and optimize obstetric workflows including L&D monitoring, documentation of labor events, fetal monitoring integrations, delivery workflows, baby transfers, and postpartum care.
  • Participate in system upgrades, release cycles, and new feature implementations.
  • Provide Tier II/Tier III support for ClinDoc and Stork workflows across inpatient, OB, postpartum, and newborn care.
  • Troubleshoot documentation issues, workflow challenges, order routing, and integrated device or monitor connections.
  • Use Epic tools (including Sherlock logs and workflow analyzers) to investigate and resolve issues.
  • Partner with Epic Technical Support and application teams when escalation is needed.
  • Work directly with clinical nurses, OB providers, midwives, educators, and operational leaders to understand workflow needs and translate them into Epic solutions.
  • Participate in clinical workgroups, governance committees, optimization initiatives, and project teams.
  • Communicate updates, workflow impacts, new features, and upgrade changes to leadership and end users.
  • Collaborate with other Epic module teams to ensure consistent workflow integration across Orders, Cupid, Willow, Beaker, HIM, and other areas.
  • Develop and execute test plans for new build, upgrades, regulatory requirements, patches, and workflow changes.
  • Document clinical workflows, build specifications, configuration decisions, change logs, and training content.
  • Maintain audit‑ready documentation and support regulatory initiatives (CMS, Joint Commission, OB quality metrics, patient safety reporting).
  • Assist in validating interdisciplinary workflows between inpatient units, L&D, postpartum, and newborn care.
  • Partner with training teams to support content development and workflow validation for ClinDoc and Stork.
  • Provide at‑the‑elbow support during go‑lives, OB expansions, inpatient unit openings, and optimization efforts.
  • Support new provider/nurse onboarding through workflow assistance and system configuration guidance.
