The EPC Estimator will assist the estimating team by managing, planning, coordinating, and controlling all assigned estimates to maximize time while delivering on promises to customers and co-workers. This position also directs and supervises the activities of each project for quality and accuracy, while ensuring all estimates and RFP’s are fulfilled.

  • Direct and supervise the activities of each project for quality and accuracy of work: including performing estimates, scheduling tasks, and achieving goals and standards
  • Manage, plan, coordinate, and control all assigned estimates to maximize time while delivering on promises to customers and co-workers
  • Analyze regional labor rates and per diems to be used in the estimate
  • Obtain and review quotations from vendor and subcontractors for materials and performance tasks not being self-performed
  • Ability to travel to project sites to observe construction sequence, means and methods, site conditions and observe and perform time studies
  • Assist in the interview procurement process and the proposal writing for an RFP
  • Assist with bids, documents and reports in an accurate, complete and professional manner
  • Survey job sites as needed for scope of work and to determine the most cost effective and efficient plan possible
  • Ensure all estimates and RFP’s are fulfilled to the customer’s or CSI’s conditions for satisfaction
  • Maintain technical knowledge and building codes by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications
  • Establish and maintain a positive and cooperative working relationship with clients, subcontractors and co-workers
  • Promote the Company image through exercising sound and ethical business practices as they relate to clients, subcontractors, suppliers and the public
  • Work with the Director of Preconstruction to determine the general expenses, labor rates, and other costs associated with each project
  • Analyze and interpret construction drawings, specifications and other bid documents
  • Perform accurate take-offs for a diverse range of EPC solar and BESS construction projects
  • Understand Scope of Work to bid as well as resolving discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
  • Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with vendors and subcontractors
  • Prepare pre-bid RFI’s and track and document responses
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Use computer software to calculate estimates (Accubid, Live Count, Bluebeam)
  • Able to work both independently and as a team member, accepting assignments from senior management and delegating to junior estimators
  • Attend meetings/interviews with clients, pre and post bid
  • Train junior estimators on proper procedures and company standards
  • Mentor junior estimators to assist in their development and professional growth
  • Responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of estimating tasks performed by junior estimators as well as self
  • Ability to perform conceptual solar and BESS EPC estimates
  • Provide bid review details to the Director of Preconstruction, prior to sending to client
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a construction, engineering, or business related field from an accredited college or university preferred
  • 2+ years’ experience in utility scale solar and BESS
  • An equivalent combination of electrical construction field experience and relevant work experience may be substituted
  • Familiarity with Accubid, Livecount, and Bluebeam preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel and Word primarily)
  • Industry knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Detailed knowledge of estimating fundamentals
  • General understanding of Fixed Price, Time & Materials, Cost Plus and Unit contract pricing mechanisms
  • Ability to work in a team environment and accept periodic peer-to-peer bid reviews
  • Ability to assess time of completion and required resources needed to meet a deadline
  • Ability to read and understand drawings for all trades Architectural, Civil, Mechanical, Structural, Electrical, and Plumbing drawings
  • Working knowledge of project accounting practices and financial systems
  • Ability to take ownership and accountability
  • Ability to prioritize multiple and simultaneous projects, issues and activities

  • Extensive knowledge of the NEC and other building codes as they relate to Utility Scale EPC
  • Understanding of electrical theory and calculations
  • Ability to detect errors and/or omissions from project documents
  • Salary $70,000-$135,500/ year
