About The Position

The Electrophysiology Technician plays a crucial role in assisting physicians during invasive cardiology procedures and electrophysiology studies. This position involves performing data reduction for electrophysiology studies, assisting with the implantation of devices such as stents, ICDs, and pacemakers, and ensuring patient safety throughout the procedures. The technician is responsible for maintaining accurate documentation and communication with the medical team and vendors, contributing to the overall mission of the Electrophysiology Lab.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• Previous Cath/EP lab experience preferred.
• Current certification as a Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist preferred.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in laboratory settings.
• Additional certifications related to electrophysiology.

Responsibilities

• Assist physician during all invasive cardiology procedures and ablations.
• Perform and complete data reduction of all electrophysiology studies.
• Assist with the implantation of stents, ICDs, and pacemakers.
• Complete all competencies for EP procedures.
• Ensure accurate data input during procedures.
• Check that all supporting documentation required for procedures is present in patient records.
• Report any equipment issues to the appropriate person in a timely manner.
• Communicate any issues with supplies, training, or processes to the Assistant Director or Director.
• Work with anesthesia to maintain patient safety regarding correct patient positioning.
• Participate in the development and fulfillment of the mission goals of the EP Lab.
• Complete any additional offsite training necessary.
• Participate in patient and family education regarding EP procedures.
• Maintain proper communication with vendors required for procedures.
• Handle and transport medications/solutions safely according to hospital policies.
