About The Position

The EOP Counselor at SUNY Morrisville plays a vital role in supporting a diverse population of Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) students. This position focuses on academic advising, program selection, and personal adjustment to college life, ensuring students thrive both academically and personally. The counselor will design workshops, coordinate orientation sessions, and collaborate with faculty to meet the unique needs of EOP students, while also engaging in campus-wide initiatives and advocating for equitable access to education.

Requirements

• Master's degree
• Advising experience working with high school or college students from diverse backgrounds

Nice To Haves

• Demonstrated ability to work independently and to organize events/workshops
• Experience with various assessment and program evaluation strategies
• Teaching experience is also strongly encouraged

Responsibilities

• Serve as advisor for EOP students
• Develop and present workshops and orientations
• Meet with academic advisors and/or faculty
• Support and advise the development of the pre-college summer institute
• Serve as chaperon for pre-college summer institute activities
• Attend staff meetings and EOP student programs
• Serve on EOP committees and other campus-wide committees
• Attend and participate in campus-wide meetings
• Serve as campus liaison for assigned offices
• Participate in campus orientations, open houses, and other recruiting activities
• Complete and/or prepare reports
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive counseling records
