Environmental Test Facility Intern Engineer
About The Position
General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) has an immediate opening for an Environmental Test Engineering Intern. This position offers an opportunity to apply classroom-learned skills to programs supporting national defense services. Environmental Test engineering involves the verification and validation of hardware and systems to ensure they can withstand rigorous conditions encountered in operational environments, including testing to military and industry standards (MIL-STD-810, DO-160, etc.). Common testing areas include Thermal, Vibration and Shock, Humidity, Corrosion, and Altitude Testing. Interns will work with collaborative teams on various technical projects associated with the core mission, enhance their skill set, and enjoy a flexible work environment where contributions are recognized and rewarded.
Requirements
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of engineering technology
- Enrolled in an accredited degree program in Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related scientific or technical discipline
- Preference for a standing of a sophomore or higher
- U.S. citizenship is required
Responsibilities
- Apply classroom-learned skills to programs supporting the defense of our country
- Assist in the planning and execution of environmental tests
- Support the development of test plans and procedures
- Help with data collection, reduction, and analysis
- Assist in writing and test reports and document findings
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Support test setup and configuration of hardware in the lab environment
