Summary of duties and responsibilities: Operate and maintain pre-treatment wastewater system and metal removal system. Perform lubrication on plant equipment. Assist with Environmental tasks. Essential duties and responsibilities: Operates pre-treatment process water system. Operates metal removal system. Operates systems to meet state and EPA regulations. Maintain good housekeeping practices in area around systems. Analyze samples of wastewater and filter cakes. Routine maintenance of equipment. Assist in identification, handling, spill clean-up, and disposal of hazardous waste. Inspect, audit, manage waste streams/collection points to meet RCRA and South Carolina Hazardous Waste Regulations. Transport hazardous waste and other items to and from storage building and assist in preparation for shipping. Maintains inventory. Assist in identification, collection, and profiling of obsolete chemicals. Inspect collection points for hazardous waste for compliance. Maintain recycling programs for waste oil, scrap steel, empty barrels, other containers, wooden pallets, etc. Obtains/records permit required data for wastewater, bag house, scrubber systems. Obtains/records pertinent tank pressure readings for plant gases. Monitor / manage boiler and cooling tower chemicals. Monitor / manage RO water and water softener systems. Inspect fire extinguishers. Monitor / Manage water meter data. Perform storm water and SPCC inspections Performs other related duties and assignments required. Education, prior work experience, specialized skills, and knowledge required: High School Graduate, GED, or related work experience; Class “B” wastewater treatment license; demonstrated communication skills-verbal and written; and some chemistry background. Job specific training required: Class “B” hazard training in handling, disposal, and shipping of hazardous waste; all related safety training; and all related environmental training. Physical requirements: Lift up to 40 lbs.; correctable 20/20 vision; Fully mobile - climbing, crawling Working in confined space Working conditions: Some noise, powder, water, oils, grease, and hazardous waste present. All personal protective equipment required by SDS must be worn as dictated by each segment of the job. Wet environment for pre-treatment system operation and subject to high and low ranges of temperature like outside seasonal changes. Equipment used: Pre-treatment and metal removal systems, lubrication equipment, and forklifts, and computer. In-Plant Handling of Hazardous Waste: Inspect, audit, manage waste streams/collection points to meet RCRA and South Carolina Hazardous Waste Regulations. Handling of Hazardous Waste is required.
