About The Position

This Environmental Technician (Industrial Hygiene) role involves performing industrial hygiene-related services, including asbestos, lead-based paint, mold, and indoor air quality assessments, as well as air and bulk media sampling. The technician will monitor remediation and abatement of contaminated or hazardous building materials and engage in progressive learning about field sampling techniques, working both indoors and outdoors. Daily communication with ECS staff, project managers, and jobsite representatives is essential, along with interfacing with contractors and other site personnel. Responsibilities also include understanding field sampling techniques, sample collection, analytical result reporting, and the calibration and use of sampling equipment. Additional duties may include report production, daily field reporting, obtaining relevant certifications, and conducting assessments for soil and groundwater. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Prior related experience in industrial hygiene is required.
  • Must have active or expired relevant certifications such as Asbestos Inspector and/or Project Monitor.
  • If driving for, or on behalf of, any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver’s license is required.
  • Must be able to provide suitable transportation for use on job sites – Mileage will be reimbursed.
  • The ability to work independently is expected.
  • Strong verbal and written skills.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds several times each day and walk on uneven ground through various terrains.
  • Must be able to climb ladders.
  • Ability to complete daily field reports detailing site activities and observations with directions and training provided.

Nice To Haves

  • Two-Year and/or Four-Year Degree in Health and Safety, and/or Environmental Science is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform industrial hygiene-related service including asbestos, lead-based paint, mold and indoor air quality assessments.
  • Perform air and bulk media sampling.
  • Monitor remediation and abatement of contaminated or hazardous building materials.
  • Progressive learning about field sampling of various media while working both indoors and outdoors.
  • Daily communication with other ECS staff, project managers, and jobsite representatives.
  • Interface with contractors and other site personnel on project sites daily.
  • Attend project meetings with senior staff as requested.
  • Understanding of relevant field sampling techniques, sample collection, and analytical result reporting.
  • Calibration and use of sampling equipment, and documentation of results.
  • Additional duties may include report production, daily field reporting, and other related tasks.
  • Obtain relevant certifications as required to perform specific job duties.
  • Conduct assessments for soil and groundwater.
  • Other duties as assigned.
