Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or a high school diploma with several years of applicable experience in a similar role with an environmental or engineering company.
  • Certifications and training courses (40-Hour HAZWOPER, 24-hour asbestos inspector certification, 40-hour asbestos abatement/supervisor certification, NIOSH 582, and lead awareness training) are required for this position but Atlas may be willing to provide one or more of these for the successful candidate.
  • Must have a clean driving record to drive company vehicles and be able to pass a drug screen and background test.
  • Must possess the ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision and as part of a professional team to meet organization and project objectives.
  • Possess knowledge of standard procedures and methodologies related to environmental testing or industrial hygiene projects
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to travel, primarily within Alaska but also Atlas' Pacific Northwest Region.

  • Working knowledge of United States Environmental Protection Agency and State of Alaska environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform environmental field work including IH surveys, assessments, asbestos and lead sampling, air monitoring, and abatement oversight.
  • Travel locally and regionally to project sites, coordinate logistics, and set up sampling equipment.
  • Prepare field notes, photographs, chain-of-custody forms, and approved field documentation.
  • Calibrate and maintain field equipment and perform laboratory sample preparation.
  • Implement Atlas health and safety policies and promote a safety-first culture.
  • Communicate with clients and coordinate with internal and external partners.
  • Work with management and team members to deliver client-centric services.
  • Embrace Atlas core values, assist with cost estimating and procurement, and participate in cross-training.
