This position performs technical duties in support of the Industrial Pretreatment Program and the Watershed Protection Plan. The Environmental Technician assists the Environmental Manager in the coordination of the Industrial Pretreatment Program, coordinating the collection of samples from industries that discharge into the Mud Creek Pollution Control Plant and the Withlacoochee Water Pollution Control Plant. The role involves installing equipment to monitor and collect pollutants from industrial sites and manufacturing plants, performing field tests at these sites, and conducting system sampling as required by plant NPDES permits, the sanitary sewer overflow program, and the Watershed Protection Program. Additionally, the technician installs equipment to monitor and collect stream samples for the Watershed Protection Plan and performs related field tests. The position also includes coordinating public outreach and educational programs related to the Watershed Protection Plan, scheduling, publicizing, and leading stream walks, identifying and documenting illicit discharges, and maintaining various records related to industrial sampling, equipment calibration, and investigative reports.
