About The Position

The NEW Orlando Health Lake Mary Hospital represents Orlando Health’s continued commitment to the Seminole County community, which we have proudly served for 40 years. As a comprehensive acute care facility, the hospital offers a full scope of medical and surgical services, including cardiovascular, general surgery, orthopedics, and women’s services with labor and delivery, alongside a future NICU. Opening with 124 beds, the 455,000 square foot hospital will be able to expand to up to 240 beds. State-of-the-art facilities include operating rooms, catheterization labs, interventional radiology, a vascular lab, an ICU and a full-service emergency department. For labor and delivery, the hospital features six private suites thoughtfully designed to make you feel at home while providing exceptional medical care. Each suite includes a hydrotherapy tub for laboring, shower, recliner, adjustable bed with a squat bar, wireless and waterproof heart rate monitors for mom and baby, a smart board that integrates patient and nurse information from Epic, WiFi, and televisions. These modern amenities ensure a comfortable and supportive environment for every patient. The Environmental Services Technician lll isresponsible for executing the daily dutiesrequired to establish andmaintain a safe, clean, and healing environment. The EVS Tech will have contact with patients, visitors, and clinical and non-clinical staff. Contact may include physical, psychological, educational, and safety related and should be appropriate to the specific demographics of patients served in assigned service areas. Responsible for transporting regular waste, soiled linen, weighing and recording clean linen, bio-hazardous waste, recycling waste, maintenance of trash containers, and performing routine manual tasks inside hospital and operate trash dumpsters, scales, and package bio-waste for shipping.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • DOT (Department of Transportation) Certification within the first 90 days.
  • Three (3) or more years exp. in Health care supportservices and/or environmental services, hospitality, or related field to include one (1) or more years’ experience as a porter or warehouse worker experience

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Technician (CHEST), preferred.
  • Linen Helper Software or similar software.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaintsfrom customers.
  • Transports regular waste, bio-hazardous waste, and recycling waste to the designated collection location and prepared for transporting according per Department of Transportation and Department of Health standards.
  • Maintains a clean and safe environment around the linen room, dumpster/bio-trailers area, and/or designated areasthat will leave area clean and litter-free.
  • Emptiestrash containers and cleansthem so they are free from spills and marks.
  • Operates outside cleaning equipment, such as, but not limited to, pressure washer, leaf blower, Billy Goat and cart washing machine.
  • Takes a proactive approach to maintaining the identified patient and non-patient areas that need attention to be compliant with all mandated and regulatory agency requirements.
  • Maintains work area in a safe manner by utilizing appropriate safety systemsto protect patients, customers, and team members.
  • To achieve a Superior Facility Image, this position is responsible for the cleaning and disinfecting of patient rooms, and ancillary areas, to include, but notlimited to, bathrooms, public areas, corridors,medication storage rooms as directed and any other areasthat may require attention using designated and appropriate chemicals and cleaning procedures.
  • Maintains equipmentin a clean and functional condition. Keeps work areas orderly, clean, and safe.
  • Worksindependently to complete tasks as assigned.
  • Responds to common inquiries from units/departments for linen request.
  • Delivers clean linen to user areas on established and changing par levels.
  • Uses handheld computer (if applicable) or manualsystem to credit and debit clean linen to user areas.
  • Recordstelephone requestsfor linen on the Telephone Log. Picks up soiled linen from user areas and dSince eliver to the holding area for Laundry pick up.
  • Weighs and records clean and reject linen when delivered and soiled linen at pick up.
  • Recordsthe Laundry truck lock tag number to Weight Log for both clean and soiled linen.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
  • Identifies and utilizes appropriate resourcesto ensure identified problems or concerns are followed through and resolved.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of facility safety requirements.
  • Demonstrates the ability to operate all EVS tools and equipment needed to clean and disinfect the environment.
  • Demonstratesthe ability set up/dismantle bedsfor cleaning according to department cleaning procedures.
  • Completes other tasks as assigned by EVS leadership.
  • Assists in onboarding new Environmental Services Technicians at Levels I, II and III’s asrequested.
  • Reports unsafe situations and turnsin Engineering Service Requests for repair.
  • Participatesin Department Safety/Quality Assurance activities as assigned i.e., Linen Area Cart/Bio Bins upon arrival.
