About The Position

The Environmental Technician ES I is responsible for onsite chemical waste collection and stock chemical distribution tasks, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) compliance inspections, collecting and organizing environmental compliance data, performing chemical waste packaging activities (i.e., lab packing and chemical consolidations), coordinating chemical waste shipments, and assisting with chemical spill responses. The incumbent performs miscellaneous administrative duties and Environmental Solutions program development tasks for Republic's Onsite Support and Lab Pack service groups.

Requirements

  • Skilled using hand and shop tools, and instruments.
  • Demonstrated thoroughness and attention to detail with problem solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, stay focused and handle multiple, diverse responsibilities.
  • Knowledgeable of chemistry principles and practices including analysis and evaluation, and waste processing protocols.
  • Ability to wear a full-face respirator while lifting and handling objects up to 50 lbs., and agree to report to work clean-shaven.
  • Ability to perform analysis and present findings in a concise format.
  • Ability to build rapport with customers and co-workers.
  • Proficient communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Proficient Microsoft Office suite skills.
  • Ability to address difficult situations constructively.
  • 0 - 2 Years of relevant work experience.
  • Ability to take 40-hour HAZWOPER Training upon hire.
  • Valid state driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a customer service role is preferred.
  • Ability to retain a CDL Hazmat endorsement is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the collection, identification, labelling, and proper storage and packaging of hazardous and non-hazardous waste, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Facilitates Lab Pack Programs and conducts chemical bulking and consolidation to maximize efficiency and maintain compliance.
  • Generates waste profiles, prepares manifests, land-ban forms, and other required documentation for the transportation and disposal of hazardous wastes.
  • Transports waste from customer sites to end-user or transfer facilities, ensuring the safe loading and unloading of waste-hauling vehicles.
  • Participates in spill response activities on customer sites as needed, ensuring prompt and safe cleanup efforts.
  • Inspects chemical storage locations in laboratories and utility spaces to determine compliance with/ EPA/OSHA/DOT regulations, and ensures adherence to safety protocols during all operations.
  • Collects and enters customer-specific data related to environmental, health, and safety.
  • Accepts chemical deliveries at loading docks, unpackages chemical shipments, barcodes chemical containers, and operates software to monitor chemical inventories and distribute chemicals to lab staff.
  • Other non-essential duties as assigned or may be necessary.
